 About Us:

front building

In 1988, the Governor of the State of Connecticut appointed a Task Force on Alzheimer’s disease to identify the future needs of people with this illness. In 1990, the Task Force recommendations were realized, in part, through the establishment of the not-for-profit Alzheimer’s Resource Center of Connecticut; a specialized source of information, education, applied research and services exclusively for people and families affected by this disease. Today, we offer education for dementia care professionals and organizations through training and consulting, community services and support for families providing care at home, early memory loss and adult day programs, and residential services for people living with dementia at all levels.

For over 20 years, we have been pioneers studying Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia and our innovative approaches are changing the culture of how we care for people with these conditions. Our “best practice” models of dementia care have resulted in a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and created the need to expand our education, training and consulting services. By sharing our expertise with other organizations and professionals, we advocate for a new standard of enlightened dementia care. Other organizations are empowered to become more capable, competitive and to respond faster to the changing culture of dementia care by leveraging our practical knowledge and training experience.
