IKOR of Western Pennsylvania is part of a growing number of IKOR offices throughout the United States providing medical and financial advocacy as well as Guardianship and Fiduciary services to seniors and the disabled of all ages. IKOR was founded in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania over 20 years ago by a Registered Nurse whose husband assisted her in legal matters as an Attorney. IKOR began to franchise these services in late 2010. To date, there are 20 operating offices nationwide. IKOR of Western Pennsylvania has been operating as an IKOR franchisee in Pittsburgh since May 2011. IKOR of Western Pennsylvania has two Co-Managing Directors, Michael J. Hanson, Esquire, CSA and Patricia A. Hanson MS, CLCP, ALCP, who work with a highly skilled team of experienced Registered Nurse Patient Advocates and Personal Needs Coordinators to address Medical and Care Related needs of the client. IKOR offers fully customized services that assist seniors, the disabled and children with special needs to live as independently as possible and in the least restrictive environment. IKOR works with Legal and Trust professionals to provide Care Management and other Fiduciary services in support of clients with medically complex issues. IKOR Financial Advocates attend to financial matters such as insurance concerns, income tax, government and veteran’s programs, real estate, home maintenance / modifications and routine bill payment. These advocates thoroughly monitor the clients’ circumstances to review for eligibility for government programs and entitlements and apply for these programs as appropriate. IKOR Registered Nurse Patient Advocates address medical and care-related needs, review pertinent medical records and work with medical providers to create a comprehensive written medical, cognitive, environmental, psychosocial, structural, and financial assessment. This assessment is then used as a guide to establish short and long-term goals to maximize the clients’ overall quality of life. IKOR team members are skilled at recognizing and addressing neglect, physical and emotional abuse, undue influence and complicated family dynamics to effectively advocate for the clients’ best interests. IKOR carries a comprehensive Fiduciary Professional Liability insurance policy with Lloyd’s of London which specifically includes Guardianship as a covered service. IKOR of Western Pennsylvania has been selected as a finalist in the small-company category for the prestigious Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award for the last three years.
